Main Points Of Focus For EMRA

FOOD QUALITY

EMRA member companies strive to provide their customers with high quality and safe food products. Strict hygiene standards are set and achieved at every stage of production and service. We demand the same commitment from our suppliers, with many of whom we have long-standing European partnerships.

It is because we believe in guaranteeing food safety and quality that we are committed to working closely with the European Union institutions in order to provide a clear legislative framework appropriate to our sector to achieve the highest food safety standards.

EMPLOYMENT

The modern restaurant sector is one of Europe's leading employers. It is also one of the fastest growing employment sectors, providing low entry level opportunities in a great many communities throughout the EU.

EMRA members employ 500,000 staff directly, and are responsible indirectly for many more jobs through our extensive network of suppliers.

The nature of our sector means that we offer flexible employment enabling our staff to combine work with other activities such as study or child-care.

EMRA members provide structured training for all staff. Promotion to more senior and responsible positions can be rapid, and many of our members' restaurants are managed by relatively young staff.

EMRA is an important contributor to any debate at a European level on future employment and training opportunities.

FRANCHISING

For many of our members a successful way of conducting business is through the franchising of their brand format to independent local business partners. Franchisees of EMRA members have contributed throughout Europe to the sector's success, deploying entrepreneurial skills and local community understanding.

EMRA has a vast body of experience of franchising which makes it an important contributor to any discussion on the future of this important business format.
